Art Exhibit

University of Tampa Student Exhibit

Name: Human Love
By: Emma Benitez

This piece of art was very interesting to watch, it gave me the feeling that we, as humans, are all the same. She uses mix media to create texture to the painting. The humans in the art work have different texture and it makes it relevant in the piece. Then she dripped some painting which completes the artwork perfectly. It was simple and at the same time it says a lot. This was my favorite piece of the art exhibition.

Name: My Universe
By: Emma Benitez

This is another piece by Benitez that I found to be very successful. She uses mix media as well, and even though she uses a lot of color she managed for the viewer not to be overwhelmed while looking at the painting. I also felt related with the painting since I have several cats and I not only know they are hard to draw but also it can look like a cliche. Benitez knew how to avoid those obstacles in a modern way.

Name: Model Feelings
By: Samantha Gutelano

I liked this piece, I know that 3D objects are very hard to create but I think Samantha did a great job. The look of the painting is very appealing, she gave it an old look using bronze color for the background and then a light turquoise color like the color of old metal get.

Name: Self Portrait
By: Michelle O'Brien

This painting was made by putting together pieces and she created a self portrait. It was very interesting to watch and it demonstrate her hard work. She could have worked in a title that suits the painting, so that it connects to the final product.

Name: Two and a Half Minute kiss
By: Jamie Stubklzer

This artwork was made up using mix media, and I think it was very nice how Jamie managed to use only black, white and grey scales in his entire painting. He also added texture to the painting which makes it more interesting as a viewer. Lastly I loved the title since it adds to the content to the painting and it is also it gave a feeling of sweetness even though it was very dark.

Name: The Creation of the Apple
By: Nick Oliveri

I stared at this painting for the longest time, it was very interesting and the topic he chose was very nice. It was brilliant how he grabbed a historic painting and related it to todays society and our technological creations. Nick combined a lot of mediums and colors and created a very large painting with relevant content. He installed a light bulb as part of his art, making this piece the first one you see. Also his name of the painting contributes to the idea, making it even more interesting.

Name: Giving you Bedroom Eyes
By: Colleen Hani

This last piece was made with pastels, creating interesting stokes on the painting. The painting didnt really call my attention that much and it was a little dull. I liked that she connected the theme with the painting putting bedroom objects in her face. It just seems very simple and kind of incomplete.
